Bequest Language for Donors

This is the most common type of planned gift. A will is a person’s statement to the public regarding the disposition of his or her property at death. There are many different types of bequests including a specific sum of money, specific asset, percent or proportion of the estate, residuary, and contingent or zero estate tax plan.

SPECIFIC BEQUEST
“I hereby give, devise and bequeath one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) to the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation, Charleston, South Carolina, designated in support of ___________.”

PERCENTAGE BEQUEST
“I hereby give, devise and bequeath fifty percent (50%) of my estate to the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation, Charleston, South Carolina, designated in support of ___________.”

RESIDUARY BEQUEST
“I hereby give, devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation, Charleston, South Carolina, designated in support of ___________.”
